I finalized the avionics locations using 3d printed mockups. I plan to purchase the avionics after Oshkosh. Garmin makes all of their products available as CAD models so I was able to also install nut plates in advance.
I laid out the harness using paracord and string. The primary path will be along the lower front of the panel, with branches/loops to each item. This will give me service loops that extend through the panel when removing equipment.
After getting all of the branches in place, I removed the mock harness and transferred it to my workbench. I covered plywood from the crate with a thin melamine board to create a large work surface to lay out the harness.
I marked and labeled all of the branches with painter’s tape.
Time to start stringing wires!
