I had previously purchased a RAMI AV-520 antenna to attach to the top of the vertical stabilizer and decided that it was time to get it fitted.
I first drilled angled holes through the stabilizer skin/flange for the antenna rods to pass through.
I then created a doubler for attaching the antenna. I will be installing nutplates on the inside with flush 3/32 blind rivets.
After priming the doubler, I attached it with blind rivets. I was able to maneuver the nutplates into place through the connector opening with needle-nose pliers.
Everything aligned well and I was able to thread the rods in smoothly. It is going to be challenging to tighten the hex screws that secure the rods so I’ll have to get creative to tighten those down during the final install.
